UPA-A Paddle Certification for PPA Europe

As PPA Europe begins play, USAP-approved paddles will be eligible at all levels through 2026; UPA-A certification required for professional play in  Europe beginning January 1, 2027.

The United Pickleball Association of America (UPA-A) today announced the paddle certification timeline for PPA Europe, providing players and manufacturers with a clear path to prepare for the 2027 season.

USA Pickleball (USAP) approved paddles currently on the USAP Approved List will remain eligible for use at all levels of PPA Europe competition, including professional play, through December 31, 2026.

Beginning January 1, 2027, UPA-A certification will be required for all paddles used in PPA Europe professional competition. This requirement brings PPA Europe professional play under UPA-A’s paddle performance and testing standards, supporting fair and consistent competition.

Brands may begin submitting paddles for 2027 certification on October 1, 2026. Manufacturers are encouraged to begin the process early to allow time for testing and review ahead of the 2027 rules being implemented.

UPA-A looks forward to working with PPA Europe, players, and equipment manufacturers to support a smooth transition and the continued growth of professional pickleball across Europe.
